CES is always the scene of novelties and concepts that promise to revolutionize the market. This year is no different and the great news is coming, proving that there is still a lot to innovate.
With evidence given every year, Razer has turned out to be different and has introduced Project Linda, a notebook that will be powered by its latest smart phone, the Razer Phone.
Project Linda brings together in one machine the best of both worlds, creating a laptop that is based on the smart phone. Being more than a simple extension of the smart phone, this concept will give users the best user experience, ensuring a complete and always ready to use the computer.
In fact, all the processing power of this set is on the phone, which can be more or less powerful, depending on the equipment that is associated. The big advantage, compared to other ideas that have appeared in the past, is the integration of these two components, with the smart phone being embedded in the track pad zone and used as a simple mouse.
The computer is made of machined aluminium, 15mm thick, and weighs only 1.25kg. To integrate the Razer Phone into this casing, it just needs to be placed on its new base and pressed a button, which will connect the USB-C port and activate the 13-inch main screen.
The complement of this chassis is made with the presence of an additional 200 GB disk, a 3.5-inch jack, a USB-A port, a USB-C port, a 720p web cam and a dual microphone. Of course, with this extra space, an extra battery is also present.
Feeding this whole set is Android, in a version adapted and prepared for the larger screens, and can be used as a work or fun machine.
This concept is not new, but now it takes a new shape with seamless integration of the smart phone into the computer’s chassis. For now, it is just a prototype and that Razer intends to grow. Maybe one day, very close, Project Linda will become a reality.
